Type locality: Saint-Yago de la Praya [=São Tiago], São Tiago Island, Praia, Cape Verde Islands.

Distribution range: Western Atlantic: Florida to Brazil (Valdés et al. 2006); Brazil: Fernando de Noronha Archipelago (Smith, E. A. 1890).
Depth: 0-30 m
Size: up to 250 mm
